Synopsis
We couldn’t compile a list of recommended readings without including this book. For those that aren’t familiar with it, How Brands Grow uses supporting evidence to up-heave everything you thought you knew about marketing.
No biggie.
What I took from from it
A schooling in the fundamental rules (7 of them) and laws (3 of these) of brand marketing. And an unnerving reminder that many of the current theories are based on hunches alone. From here on, fads of the moment will treated with far more caution.
With that being said, I’m still going to happily and unashamedly plonk myself on the proverbial fence. Most likely with both legs dangling on Sharp’s side to skew the weighting slightly.
My utterly unqualified tuppence worth is that there is a balance to be struck between prescriptive theories and creative freedom. But hey, that’s just based on a hunch 😉
Who should read this book
No doubt most of you have read this book. But If you haven’t, and you work in marketing, I can’t encourage you enough to do so. I’ll even buy your copy and pay the postage. For those who don’t work in marketing, the theory behind it is still bloody fascinating. And why not? A free copy for you too.
Where to Buy
And just so you know, we have no affiliations. We don’t answer for nothing to no one for nothing. Apart the market research guidelines, of course. Oh, and our clients. And our mums… But certainly no book publishers, authors or stockists 🙂
